Sam Mullins OBE
Sam has been Director of the London Transport Museum since 1994, where he has overseen the development of the world’s premier museum of urban transport and the social history of transport in London past, present and future.
During this time, he has created the first publically accessible museum store in the UK at Acton Depot (1999), led the redevelopment of the museum in Covent Garden (2007), the transition to charity governance (2008) and creation of the tube150 anniversary programme of which co-authorship of “Underground, how the Tube shaped London” (2012) is the keystone.
The Museum has won a series of awards since 2007 and attracts over 300,000 visitors a year as well as hosting external events, most notably the return of steam to the Underground in January 2013 to commemorate the 150th anniversary.
